In history, there are many large earthquakes that killed millions of people. The events that recently occurred, is a Japanese earthquake, March 11, 2011. This country hits 9.0 on the Richter Scale, with its center at 373 km from Tokyo. The earthquake resulted in a tsunami in the east coast.

On May 27, 2006, at 05:55, a tectonic earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale (Indonesian version of the Meteorology,
Climatology and Geophysics BMKG-) has occurred for 57 seconds in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java. attention, the scale of the disaster area and the old.

Thousands of residents have left Bangkok, Thailand's capital, before the great flood in the near future. Flood eventually inundate Bangkok and 20 other provinces. Efforts to prevent human casualties is very important.

Government is the primary responsibility in disaster management. But people should also play a role. They can build the community-based disaster preparedness. Communities can build preparedness, by understanding the characteristics, hazards, and risks that may occur. They also need to
prepare for evacuation routes, shelter victims, logistical, and technical assistance to the victims.Present reality in Indonesia, the government tends to not care about the community based disaster preparedness. Population had never been given training for disasters, so that when that happens can cause many casualties.

Some people are never trained to face disaster. But these activities are not provided by the government. Community organizations voluntarily give training to the community. One organization that has a major role is the Indonesian Red Cross.(Purwoko Adi Seno)

PARALYSIS poliomyelitis (polio) is a disease that has existed since prehistoric times. This disease caused by a virus that enters the body through the mouth and infect the intestinal tract. Poliomyelitis was first recognized as a distinct condition by Jakob Heine in 1840. Its causative agent, polio virus, was identified in 1908 by Karl Landsteiner. Polio epidemics have crippled thousands of people, mostly young children; the disease has caused paralysis and death for much of human history. Polio had existed for thousands of years quietly as an endemic pathogen until the 1880s, when major epidemics began to occur in Europe; soon after, widespread epidemics appeared in the United States.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in the year 2010 and 753 cases have occurred in endemic countries and 579 in the State of non-endemic countries. As in 2011 until this week, in endemic countries have been 196 cases in state and non-endemic countries as many as 271 cases.

According to WHO data, some cases of polio occurred in many countries in this week. Afghanistan, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Angola, Africa, China, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, including in those countries.

The researchers in American Chemical Society, have found the cinnamon oil formulas to kill mosquito larvae. This compound, shows promise as a great-smelling, environmentally friendly pesticide, with the ability to kill mosquito larvae.
